Jet Museum

Looking for a free day out? Then look no further than the Jet Age Museum. Ok so it’s not as amazing as the Coventry Transport museum (another incredible free day out) but there’s enough to keep little people occupied for an hour or so.

Top Tips for visiting

  1. If you want to look inside some of the cockpits (and who wouldn’t?) its worth sorting out your time slot immediately on arrival (they fill up quickly and are limited). There is a height restriction so not all little people can go.
  2. If you fancy taking a picnic there are lots of lovely benches outside with views of the airport!
  3. Could easily combine a visit to the Jet Museum with a pub lunch or drink in the Aviator  – a pub with a great garden overlooking the airfield. The interior is also themed with aeroplanes hanging from the ceiling etc.

Opening Times

Definitely worth checking the website before setting out. It’s a small museum run entirely by volunteers. They are currently open between 10am and 4pm (café 10am to 3.30pm) on Saturdays, Sundays, the majority of UK Bank Holidays and selected Wednesdays during Schools’ holiday periods. The Museum is closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Full details of their opening times can be found here
